POTENTIAL ANGIOPREVENTIVE AGENT OF BENZOQUINONOID COMPUND FROM ARDISIA CRISPA ROOT IN VITRO AND IN VIVO
DESCRIPTION : Ardisia crispa (Thunb) A.DC is a local medicinal plant traditionally claimed for its therapeutic use in various inflammatory-related diseases. Its root part has been scientifically validated to be effective in various inflammatory animal models. In this study, we isolated its bioactive compound (AC2) from the hexane fractionated extract of the plant's root (ACRH) and tested its antiangiogenic properties against human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) and zebra fish assay, respectively. Our findings exhibited promising antiangiogenic effects of both AC2 and ACRH by suppressing its angiogenic signaling cascades, in vitro as well as significantly inhibited zebrafish embryo intersegmental vessels (ISVs), confirming its antiangiogenic role

THE COMPLETE MITOCHONDRIAL GENOMES OF PANGASIUS NASUTUS AND P. CONCHOPHILUS (SILURIFORMES: PANGASIIDAE)
DESCRIPTION : The catfish, Pangasius nasutus and P. conchophilus, are often misidentified between each other due to their similar morphology. Thus, the current study was conducted to differentiate them based on a molecular approach. The complete mitochondrial genomes of P. nasutus and P. conchophilus obtained from the Pahang River (Peninsular Malaysia) were sequenced, assembled, and annotated using Next-generation sequencing (NGS). A 16,465 bp and 16,470 bp length mitogenome sequence of P. nasutus and P. conchophilus, respectively were generated, each containing 13 protein genes, 22 tRNAs, and two rRNAs, typical of most vertebrates. This is the first report of the complete mitochondrial genome sequences of P. nasutus and P. conchophilus. This data is a valuable genetic resource for future studies of these two commercially important species.

SCYPHOZOAN SPECIES ABUNDANCE AND WATER PARAMETERS IN THE KLANG STRAIT DURING JUNE 2010-DECEMBER 2011
DESCRIPTION : This is the raw (unprocessed) datasets for scyphozoan jellyfish abundance (catch per unit effort: no. of individual/net) and environmental water parameters (salinity, temperature, pH, DO, turbidity, current speed) collected during the monthly sampling routine (June 2010-December 2011) and 24-hour sampling series conducted during the dry period of the southwest monsoon (June-July 2011) and wet period of the northeast monsoon (November-December 2011) at the Klang Strait, Malaysia.
